From Deepwater to Nuclear: Why Offshore Energy Professionals Are Built for the Next Frontier
Thursday, 8 May
Room 202
Keynote Speaker Series
The frontier of nuclear energy may seem new, but for many in offshore oil and gas, it’s more familiar than expected. The systems thinking, safety culture, and operational discipline that define offshore work are deeply aligned with what’s required to deliver advanced nuclear — particularly in remote, high-consequence environments.
In this keynote, I’ll offer a perspective on how the offshore industry’s experience with complex, regulated systems positions it to play a leading role in the next energy era. From my own path — through ExxonMobil and now on the leadership team at Natura Resources — I’ve seen how much of what’s needed in nuclear is already second nature to this industry. The mindset, the capabilities, and the readiness are all here. This session will highlight how offshore professionals aren’t just adjacent to the nuclear future — we’re already equipped to build it.
