Offshore CCS: Challenges and Opportunities in Mitigating Emissions

Monday, 6 May

Executive Dialogue
The energy transition is underway, but it is not yet happening at the scale or on the timetable required to achieve society’s climate goals. The technology exists today to capture and store CO2 from emission sources. ExxonMobil has cumulatively captured more human-made CO2 than any other company on the planet, and we’re expanding our long-term storage capacity in anticipation of market developments. In this session, Erik Oswald, Vice President of Advocacy & Policy Development, ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions, will discuss the challenges and opportunities in mitigating emissions and how offshore Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) can help. ExxonMobil sees an opportunity to create a carbon capture and storage business with the capacity to reduce emissions across the U.S. Gulf Coast by more than 100 million metric tons per year.
